# rentadomain.sh > A domain rental platform. Renters pay monthly for DNS control of a name for a fixed term; the name is never sold and ownership never transfers. Rent a domain. Monthly. Renting only, we never sell. Operated by DotcomJack LLC, Detroit, MI. Contact lease@rentadomain.sh. ## Names for rent now - [grownbyai.com](https://rentadomain.sh/names/grownbyai.com): 12 months $150/month; 6 months $180/month; 1 month $225/month. ## Pricing Terms are 1 month, 6 months or 12 months, billed monthly. The 12 month rate is the listed rate; 6 months costs 1.2 times it and 1 month costs 1.5 times it, rounded up to whole dollars. Each name page shows how its rate was set: a published percentage of an appraised sale value with the arithmetic, or the listed rate stated plainly where no appraisal is published. ### Each term, with its total and renewal bounds - grownbyai.com, 12 months: $150/month, $1,800 over the term, renewal floor $150/month, ceiling $300/month - grownbyai.com, 6 months: $180/month, $1,080 over the term, renewal floor $180/month, ceiling $360/month - grownbyai.com, 1 month: $225/month, $225 over the term, renewal floor $225/month, ceiling $450/month ### Renewal formula At renewal the new monthly rent is the current rent times 1 plus half of the year over year growth in search volume for the name's keywords, measured from an independent third party keyword search volume dataset, with that growth counted between 0% and 100%. So rent can rise by at most 50% at a renewal and never falls because of the formula. The result is rounded to the nearest $5 and kept between the floor and the ceiling published for the name. Your own traffic, your own business and your own growth are never inputs. ## Rent a name Renting needs a person: they sign in, verify their legal name once with a government ID and a selfie (checked by Stripe), sign the lease and pay by card. An agent cannot verify, sign or pay. Who can rent: You rent for your business or another commercial purpose. The lease is not for personal, family or household use. If you sign for a company, you confirm you can bind it. 1. Sign in with an email code, then add a passkey or an authenticator app. 2. Verify your legal name, once: you show a government ID and take a selfie, and Stripe checks them. It takes a few minutes. 3. Choose a term of 1, 6 or 12 months. 4. Read and sign the lease. 5. Pay the first month by card. The name is yours to point when the payment clears. 6. Point the DNS yourself, or create a token for your agent. The first DNS change on a new lease is checked by a person before it goes live. - Start renting grownbyai.com: https://rentadomain.sh/rent/grownbyai.com ## For agents - MCP server (Streamable HTTP, no sign-in to search, price or read terms): https://rentadomain.sh/mcp. To manage a lease, add https://rentadomain.sh/mcp/manage as a connector and approve with your passkey, or send an rd_ token - Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http rentadomain https://rentadomain.sh/mcp - [One install line per client: Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, claude.ai, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, the Python SDK and curl](https://rentadomain.sh/for-agents) - Catalog, no token: GET https://rentadomain.sh/api/v1/names lists every name for rent with the rent, total, floor and ceiling for each term. - DNS, with a token: after the lease is active, the person who rented creates an rd_ token in their dashboard and hands it to the agent. Scopes: dns:read, dns:write. One token works on one lease. - With it the agent calls GET https://rentadomain.sh/api/v1/leases to find its lease id (the id stays the same across renewals), then plans a change and applies the plan. - Limits: 60 record changes per hour on a lease. A plan lives 15 minutes. The first plan applied on a new lease is held for a person on our side to review: apply answers 202 with pending_review and a status_url to poll. - A token cannot apply MX, CAA, SPF, DKIM or DMARC records, a wildcard record, a TXT at the apex, or a plan with more than 10 changes. A person applies those in the dashboard. - A token cannot rent, verify, sign, pay, cancel or change the term. ## At renewal and exit - The first charge lands at activation, when your payment succeeds. After that the same rent is charged to your card on the same day every month. - The rent never changes during a term. - The lease renews on its own for another term of the same length, until you cancel or we give written notice. - To cancel, tell us in your dashboard at least 2 days before the term ends. Cancelling stops the next term. It is not a refund. - There are no refunds after activation and no proration for part of a month. - There are no setup fees and no exit fees. Any sales tax that applies is extra. - We review the rent once every 12 months. A new rent from that review only ever starts at a renewal, with a written memo and the math at least 60 days before. - We can decline to renew only with 30 days written notice before a term ends. It never shortens a term. - If a monthly charge fails we tell you the same day and retry. Unpaid 7 days after the failed charge, the lease is suspended and your DNS records are saved and taken down. Unpaid 14 days after it, the lease ends and the records are gone. - When a lease ends your DNS records are removed and the name goes back to us. It is never sold, to you or to anyone. ## Blog Guides to domains and DNS for people who work in the terminal, and for the agents that work alongside them. https://rentadomain.sh/blog/ - [How to Point a Domain at Your App From the Terminal](https://rentadomain.sh/blog/point-a-domain-from-the-terminal/): The DNS records that point a domain at an app, how to read them with dig, how TTL shapes a change, and a worked Cloudflare API update with curl. - [Renting vs Buying a Domain: When Monthly Makes Sense](https://rentadomain.sh/blog/renting-vs-buying-a-domain/): How domain registration works, what renting or lease-to-own gives you and holds back, the risks to check first, and a checklist for deciding. - [Letting an AI Agent Manage Your Domain Safely](https://rentadomain.sh/blog/let-an-ai-agent-manage-dns/): Scoped tokens, registrar locks, DNSSEC, zone exports, dry runs, audit logs and rollback: how to let an AI agent edit DNS without risking the domain itself. - [How to Rent a Domain Name by the Month](https://rentadomain.sh/blog/rent-a-domain-by-the-month/): What renting a domain by the month gives you, how control reaches you while the registration stays put, the questions to ask before you sign, and how to point the name once it is yours to run. - [Domain Leasing by the Month: Terms, Renewals, and Total Cost](https://rentadomain.sh/blog/domain-leasing-by-the-month/): How a monthly domain lease is structured, how renewals and rent changes should work, what a few years actually costs, and how leasing compares with lease-to-own and buying outright. - [Give Your AI Agent Its Own Domain, Safely](https://rentadomain.sh/blog/give-your-agent-its-own-domain/): How to give an autonomous agent a domain it can run, with a token scoped to one name, a plan-then-apply gate, protected mail records, and a clean rollback, without handing it anything that could lose the domain. ## Links - [Every name with its term menu](https://rentadomain.sh/names) - [How renting works, with an FAQ](https://rentadomain.sh/how-it-works) - [The lease text](https://rentadomain.sh/lease) - [Support by email, with a reason picker, lease@rentadomain.sh](https://rentadomain.sh/support) - [API reference for agents (bearer token)](https://rentadomain.sh/api) - [OpenAPI 3.1 document for the API](https://rentadomain.sh/openapi.json) - [API catalog (RFC 9727)](https://rentadomain.sh/.well-known/api-catalog) - [Blog](https://rentadomain.sh/blog/) - [Abuse and legal claims, abuse@rentadomain.sh](https://rentadomain.sh/abuse)
